Tabletop Curling

Online compatible : No.

Age group : Fun for all ages

Materials :

  • A copy of Appendix G (For younger players you may wish to enlarge the game board by photocopier)

  • A coin or disc-shaped object

Preparation time : Roughly 10 minutes to print Appendix G and glue its components together

Number of players : Works equally well in groups as in private lessons

Objective : To be the player with the most points

Instruction :

Place Appendix G in the centre of the table. By turn, students each have a certain number of attempts to flick their disc to the target zone. In younger classes the number of flicks should be 3 or 4, but the number can be set lower for older students to increase the challenge. The disc will not be returned to the start following each turn, unless it leaves the playing board, and instead students next flick will be played from where their previous flick landed, thus enabling them to progress forward and closer to the target. If by the end of their originally set number of flicks, their disc has landed in the target area, they have scored points. Count the number of points after everyone has had a turn to determine the winner.
