Instructions :

Split class into two or four teams. Place your assembled Carrom board on the table and assign each team to one of the 4 sides of the board. If the game is being played between two teams, have them sit opposite each another. Give out a single "striker" disk to all teams and place remaining disks in the center circle.

Each turn a player places their striker anywhere within the parallel lines of the closest area marked "STRIKE ZONE". They then flick their striker and attempt to knock disks from inside the center into any of the black circle labeled "GOAL". If A disk lands within one of the "GOAL" circles their team scores a point and that disk is removed from play. If their own disk lands within a "GOAL" circle, their team loses a point. Upon completion of their turn, the "striker" disk is removed from the board, and the next team begins their turn. Play continues until all centre circle disks have been removed from play. Once this happens, count up the scores for each team. The team with the highest score wins.

The game "Carrom" has been played for many years, and the rules above have been simplified for young learners of English to quickly understand, but those teaching more advanced learners may wish to introduce students to more standard rules. An average Carrom board is 74cm by 74cm. The board provided here has been shrunk to fit an A4 printer. At it's current size it will be very easy for students to score points. To make the game more difficult and exciting, use a photocopier to enlarge the game (an increase of 150% should be sufficient).

PERMISSION IS GIVEN TO EDIT AND PRINT THE APPENDICES FOR USE IN THE CLASSROOM.
