Materials :

• An equal number of paper cups with a picture of the target vocabulary drawn, stuck or the word written on them for each team.

• A ping pong ball for each team

• Flashcards of the target language

Preparation time : 20 to 30 minutes to prepare the cups

Number of players : Works best in groups, but can be played in private classes

Objective : To have the most cups remaining when the game ends.

Instructions :

Hand an equal number of paper cups and ping pong ball out to each team. Each turn the teacher closes their eyes and the students secretly place their ping pong ball under one of the cups. The teacher then shuffles the flashcards and picks one. If the students ping pong ball was hidden under the paper cup with the same target vocabulary drawn that paper cup is lost. The game can be played until there is only one team remaining with paper cups left, or to a time limit set by the teacher, in which case the teams count how many cups they each have left. Whichever team has the most wins.
